For two weeks, I had two metal pins sticking out of my hand. Two metal pins holding my fifth metacarpel bone together in my right hand while it heals. But now I have only one. One was removed on Thursday. It was very strange - the doctor just took a small pair of pliers, twisted it, and pulled it out. It came out unexpectedly clean (not bloody like I imagined). My hand felt almost immediately liberated, as that pin was giving me some irritation. What a differece it made! I still have a ways to go, as I still have some pain and quite a bit of stiffness and limited range of motion. But the last pin comes out on Tuesday. I CAN'T WAIT!!! I want my hand back!

I still think it is interesting how I broke my hand without so much as a scratch on my skin. Weird. But now my hand is terminally dry - not sure why - but it feels all calloused. I don't like it. I don't like it any more than I like having a broken bone in my hand.

I guess I learned a lesson: Only punch sheet rock and only between the studs.
